Bloom {Into Beautiful}: Weekend Recap // What Matters Most

Weekend Recap // What Matters Most

I had such a wonderful weekend! My mother came in for a visit from KY and we just had such a great time showing her around our little community here at Fort Riley. Such a blessing that we got to see her & spend some quality time together!

If you've noticed on Instagram lately, I've not been posting 24/7, which is highly unusual for me. Why?
Thanks to Bonnie over at B Is For Bonnie Design I'm learning to make time for what matters most instead of spending all of my time on work. I have felt so much better after making the decision to shut work off at 5PM. I turned all of my notifications off on all social media via my iPhone. Wow! I'm never looking at my phone all of the time! It's so great! Even during work hours, I feel like I am now getting so much more done because I'm not checking those dang notifications every minute!

Basically I'm writing this to remind ya'll about what matters most in your life. Whether you're married or single, kids or no kids, entrepreneur or employee... you can be distracted from what really matters in your life by work, cleaning, television, media, etc. We need to get past this! Enjoy life! Look up from your smartphone & LIVE! This life isn't about that stuff... Yes, I understand that the first two are essential... but we can have a schedule and stick to it.

I write down in my planner everything I need to have done the next day each evening around 5PM, just before I'm shutting the work Megan off and fixing dinner for my hubby. Even if you don't get everything done, at least you know that you tried and that media wasn't the reason you didn't get all of the tasks done. It's just so refreshing to know that at 5PM my time is solely dedicated to spending time with my husband, relaxing, chatting with my family back home, or just having some time alone if hubs is working late.

I sincerely encourage you to read this blog series from Bonnie. Whether you're an entrepreneur or an employee... I promise you won't leave the page without taking something positive and encouraging from it.

Until next time...

  1. I'm so glad my thoughts on setting boundaries with work and social media were helpful! I love hearing that you're making more time for what matters most. You definitely won't regret those choices, love! xo
