Bloom {Into Beautiful}: So Long, Insecurity!

So Long, Insecurity!

Today's post is all about the book "So Long, Insecurity" by Beth Moore. Oh man, I don't even know where to start. This book is so AMAZING. I, being one of the most insecure people on the planet, have overcome so much after reading this book. Her words are so true & raw that you just break down in the middle of a sentence. I know that my journey throughout reading this has been an amazing one and I just feel like I can't go on until I share it with ya'll.

I'm just going to list some of my favorites lines that I've marked in my book. No big spill on insecurity... because I want you to run to your bookstore after you read the snippets below and find out for yourself how silly we are and why we shouldn't be insecure.

"Some of us never seek healing from God for our insecurities because we feel like we don't fit the profile. We think insecurity only looks one way--mousy, maybe even inept--and that's not exactly who we see in the mirror. At least not once the mascara's on. And it certainly is not the woman we present to the public. Insecurity's best cover is perfectionism. That's where it becomes an art form."

"No, you are not the only one to blame, but girlfriend, you are the only one you can change. God is willing. God is able. Let Him get to that terrified part of you that devalues the rest of you."

"Be careful who you covet. Be careful how you judge. Be slow to size somebody up and think you know all about her type. She's not so different from you. Nobody's unbreakable here on this planet. ...if you're thinking really attractive women don't have this issue, you are out of your darling little mind."

"It's up to us to change the way we react to media influence and to quit emotionally buying into everything we see."

"Insecurity makes us settle. Insecurity makes us distracted. Insecurity robs our confidence in our rich inheritance from God. Insecurity makes us put our gifts on a shelf to gather demonic dust. Insecurity disturbs our sleep. Insecurity derails our life."

"If you are in Christ, you have divine power. In your gravest weakness, His strength is perfected. ...If Christ is your Savior, sister, you are completely covered by a cloak of strength."

"We don't have to hate ourselves to love a man or hate a man to love ourselves."

"She is clothed with strength and dignity. Believe it, sister."

"Women who have received Christ are sealed by God, inhabited by the Holy Spirit, and can't be possessed by demons. But trust me when I tell you that we can still run their errands"

"We will always have triggers of insecurity, but we get to decide whether or not we're going to take the bait."

"Insecurity will rob us of some of the richest woman-to-woman relationships of our lives."

"I am clothed with strength and dignity. My security is mine to keep. God gave it to me. No one gets to take it from me."

"Let's exercise a little sensitivity and deal with our insecurities and cravings for attention in ways that don't minimize the women around us."

"We are aflame with God's glory and radiating with the light of His knowledge in the exquisite face of His Son, Jesus Christ. And we're insecure? What kind of lies have we believed all this time? We, of all people on the earth, possess the reason, the residence, and the ongoing revelation to be, of all things, most secure."
